Ive heard different opinions on this, so any help is appreciated. I do not have a garage, so ive been using a car cover. in heavy rains, the water still gets through. So, if the trapped water remains under the cover, it is making the chances of rusting better? Is it better to let the car get rained on, and allowing the remaining rain to evaporate? please share your thoughts/experience on this, thanks!

I've been using a car cover on my 71 cutlass for about 8 years now.
In the winter i have it in storage, though.
I live in germany so not the best weather but also no beach with salt water.

No rust problems so far.
Well its a car after all, they have been built to survive rain.

NO......gives a false sense of security, and can scratch the paint without realising it.

get a carport, thats my garage thats all I can afford.

They all scratch and are a pia. But I use one. Too much airborne ****.

Right, i have a carport too and park the car under it whenever possible.
If not i use the cover and in the winter i have a storage space as mentioned in my last post.

I also have 2 garages but unfortunately the cutlass and also the charger are both too big to fit into them. :D

Get one. For about $500 you can get something from California car cover that will keep most of the elements off of your car. If you live in a mostly sunny place like I do in california, an unprotected car will succumb to the elements before you know it. I guess you could keep it washed and waxed frequently but i dont have faith that those products can completely block the damaging effects of the sun and the elements. I'll take the scratches from a cover over the elements anytime. Besides my charger is driven, and not a perfect, trailered cream puff...

Paint has to breathe so don't use a waterproof cover, use a water resistant cover only after paint has cured. Do not use plastic. It's important how your storing your cover when not on use.You don't want any contaminants on the inside of the cover.

I would recommend a good cover and a shelter of some sort if you can come up with one.
The sun damages everything.
I've never had a big problem with the cover scratching my cars.

I bought one but never used it, was gonna sell it at a local car show but they're all cancelled this year it seems.

If you use a cover just be sure you take it off every so often so the paint can breathe

In my experience weighing all of the advantages and disadvantages I believe you are better off without the car cover.
