I am building a new 42 x 64 garage and am thinking I would like a lift for working on my cars as well as being able to use it on my full size pickup. I am leaning towards the Rotary SP010 symetrical. Do any of you guys use this model or have other recommendations?

nice size shop. i have one of each, 2 post and 4 post. they each have there own pros and cons. i myself would go the 2 post first as i did due to my dually weighing 8500lbs. my 2 post is rated at 10,000lbs. you have to make sure you have lots of cement depth for the 2 post. the 4 post has the wheeel kit and it works quite well, surprizingly. lets me wheel it outside to power wash or sand blast and no mess in the shop. i find the 4 post is more of a pain when doing something that requires some work on top of motor and then under motor. it is a stretch to work on top on the ramps.
i am sure there will be lots who would go 4 post first. just my own input. think where you want to put a 2 post and make sure you have the cement depth under it. ceiling height is another consideration. i am 16ft. to ceiling.

I got one and love it. I don't like the drive on kind as most of what I do is under or tires and brakes. If you got the room for it go big. Some trucks can be well over 6000 LB.

A 2 post is the way to go if you plan on doing a lot of work under the car, changing gears ,trannys, and such!open floor is better for that type work, cables and hoses could get in the way of jacks.

I am going with the two post for sure. The people pouring the cement have already asked where the posts will be so they can get extra material there. Next question is how far back from a wall should I center the posts? I would like to get as close as possible so it isn't taking up alot of space. Can you back into a two post? If not I am thinking 16 feet so a cherry picker with motor will fit in front of the car.

Ya sure. Pull in or back in. The arms swing out of the way. Best I can tell you is to park some thing like a big truck where you are thinking it will go and judge from there. A little farther from the wall is best. You don't want to hit the wall and find out the arms will not swing under. LOL
