I am removing the lean burn system in my 76 Cordoba (400 4bl). I will be switching the carburetor as well. I was thinking that I would like to try a pre lean burn Carter TQ but am having a difficult time locating one.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a replacement?

Thanks

just drop on a 600 cfm edelbrock.i figure your 400 will never see the high side of 4800 rpms so it will work great.prob even get good millage,if you can keep your foot out of it.pretty easy to install as well.any adapters you may need are very available.

Any particular model number?

1406 if motor is stock.also gives the electric choke, since the factory stuff wont hook up.

You'll need at least the throttle linkage adapter, its a no-brainer and just bolts right onto the carb. You may or may not have to modify the throttle valve bracket, and you'll probably have to find a new 12v source for the electric choke. I use a SummitRacing 600 and I like it every bit as much as the Edelbrocks I've used and more than most of the Holleys I've had.

A 625 AFB will do nicely but also the aforementioned early TQ.
