Carlisle

I've been to Carlisle a couple times in the past, never with an entry. Does an entry need to be perfect condition? Is there a survivor driver class? Might get down there this year!View attachment 2010333
An entry does NOT need to to be perfect to show on the field no, just ask @70bigblockdodge about his Charger. As long as its a Mopar, its in. While most cars are VERY nice to perfect though, there are also plenty of cars that are NOT very nice or prefect too…. trust me, I seen em. Your car looks like it will fit right in just fine, DON’T worry about it or feel out of place. They do have a survivor area, and its actually not a class. Its an actual tent. We had our orange 1970 Fury III, and @Richard Cranium also had his white 1966 HEMI Belvedere in there the same year back in 2022. I attached some pictures for you below. It used to be run by a fellow named Mel but he unfortunately passed away, and the display is now run by his 2 sons. The cars need to be 80% original including paint. The cars could be taken out of the tent in the evening otherwise they would be roped off. Check out Carlisles website, it will have information for you if you are interested and meet the criteria. @Richard Cranium I’m sure could also tell you more information too as he has had more than one of his cars in the tent.

Thank you sir! Most helpful. I really appreciate this group. I've learned a ton about this particular car just reading through the various threads.

U-Haul rejected my rental to haul my 64 fury. Much smaller than your Charger. WTF
Carlisle has a discount for the Show Field. I don't know how much the fee is this year.
There is a survivor tent. Has to be approved.
Be sure to use FBBO Club when you register.
Thank you!

Only requirement is it needs to drive on to the field under its own power. Many folks show up with total beaters to get the better parking. Modern day rental car will do the trick as well, so long as it's a Mopar.
She runs and drives. I've just started the investigation of necessary mechanical work to make it reliable enough for a 4 hour trip. There's some beautifying to be done for sure. It's be nice to have an attainable goal like Carlisle to work towards was my overall point I guess.

Back in 1987 I and two buddies rented a Chrysler mini-van and drove from Calgary to Columbus for the Mopar Nats. Cost to enter the vehicle was no more than spectator entry AND got us premium parking so we entered it in the "van" class. We took second place !! We like to think the dead dragonfly on the antenna tipped the scales in our favor !!!

For many of us, it carries more weight that a car was driven, rather than trailered. More than how pretty it is or isn't. I've driven to every Carlise Mopar event since 1991, never trailered a car, including a few show vehicles. It's a great test drive, and if you do have issues, you will have a wealth of tech support from fellow FBBO members in attendance, as well as parts available in the swap meet.

My current GTX worked flawlessly on the road test when I bought it in 2022, but the maiden voyage to Carlisle in 2023 brought out all the gremlins. Worst was engine overheating, had to run my heater in putrid July humidity to limp in, and make the trip home. Got all the bugs worked, out rode in air conditioned bliss the last two years. A significant number of us drive our cars in from a distance, many of them are nice looking, but that sure isn't a requirement.

The goal is to drive it, meet a bunch of people from this group whom I've learned a lot from through various posts and continue to bring it yearly as I transform it. I appreciate your time and knowledge. The empty nest has left a considerable void and I'm thankful for the opportunity to invest that time into another 3rd generation Charger.

Look forward to seeing it! I am on the fence if I will bring the Charger or Dart. If the Charger we will be in the same class.

Now I need to measure trunks and see which one the wagon fits in better with parts.
