Actually, the day before I had just resurrected the A/C on the truck. The day this happened I had stopped at a QT for gas. And as I was pulling out.......

Nope. not a thing. I hadn't even used it for any towing at that point. Was even before the "big move" to the country.

What probably happened was the lines and cooler weren't flushed when the trans was rebuilt some time before I bought it.

I had Phoenix build a new converter and do the trans. They also gave me a can of flush for the lines and cooler, and an inline filter so anything that didn't get flushed out wouldn't get flushed IN to the new trans.
