At least on my Roadrunner......changing the oil filter is a bitch ! The trans cooling lines, in the way. Lower radiator hose, in the way. Power steering pump hose, in the way. WOW, what a time, but I got it. I think the car was built around the filter. :BangHead:

Wait til you have to change the starter....... If you have headers that's a real picnic.

Oh ya, I looked at that problem too. I think I would have to unbolt the engine mount and jack it up.....or something. WOW

Put the battery in the trunk and install remote filter where battery box was. Problem solved.

If you relocate the filter, be sure that you mount it so the open end of the filter is up. Less mess

we use the late model high torque starters w headers,
Much easier and they last a lot longer.
they are on dodge trucks in junkyards everywhere.

Remote filter is THE ticket:

Their are many places to mount an oil filter.
And various reasons for doing so.

I snake mine through the fan, it's a clutch, so I just get it vertical, fit it between two fan blades and rotate the fan to get the filter out through the top. Not a big deal, but a little messy for the k frame.

I'll save you some time - you have to take off the driver side header, then unbolt the motor mount, jack up the engine - then you should be able to get at the starter to remove it. It gets to be like playing twister - but becomes a choreographer process. Good luck!

What a process, I'll figure it out when the time comes.. Many thanks

Many thanks. No job is impossible, just another challenge.

Which starters are you referring to? Thanks
Dakota, Durango, Ram 1500, etc any of the 318ci/5.2 ltr or 360ci/5.9 ltr Magnums

If you use an OE style Dakota Mini starter
some will need the main 1/4 20 12 vt main post trimmed a bit,
as so to clear the block, doesn't short out
depends on the brand & style

The attention to that "trimming of the post" advice is a good one. --Especially for those that are putting one in and can't see the interference.
I'm using one of those on my KB alum. block and also had to grind off a part of the blocks reinforcing rib for the same reason.

Do these starters still have the MOPAR distinctive noise when they crank ? I love that sound and no one else has it.

Tried it and did not work. Pulled the drivers side torsion bar unbolted header and starter falls out.
Wasted 4 hours trying the motor mount method and starter was still stuck between header and block or header and torsion bar.
