anybody restored or opened that canister ? looks like opened in bottom but its very tight.it is worth to restored that?Canister bottomfoam is broken and coilpowder coming out and i think to but new charcoil and foam or where i can find new.
 
yes, they tend to fall apart, but newer ones are filter and screen on bottom and can be cleaned.. no carbon fuels needed.....
 
None that I know of.I was looking for replacement for my 88 Dodge Ram.I heard of a GM unit that may work and is available at parts stores.Was told that there is a post with photos and numbers on slantsix.org but never looked for it. Just a thought.

Good thread on the subject of charcoal canister rebuild. These are date coded for the numbers guys.
Here is a filter for the bottom on Ebay. 350788889539 This is the item number, type number into search feature.
I was planning on restoring mine but I'm thinking I will just fill up the ports with 3M plastic repair and put the hoses back on for looks. I've got a 74 with CA smog stuff and that is what I'm doing with all of it. Leaving but disabling to keep it from becoming a liability. I remember years ago it wasn't uncommon for a canister to rupture and cause a bunch of charcoal to be sucked into the carb.
