Chevy Engine Swap!!! What!!!!

I tell people....... "yeah, I could work on Chevies; but I graduated from kindergarten" :carrot:

I’m a car guy more than I’m a Chevy guy or a Mopar guy. Personally wouldn’t put a hemi in my 57 Chevy nor would I put a BBC into my Superbee.
But I’ve found the “Mopar tax” to be pretty shocking

It all comes down to this: you can have a {yawn} Chevy, you can have a {ho-hum} Ford, but if you want to have something different from the {snore} rest of the crowd... get a MOPAR.

The last three engines we assembled was a pontiac 455, chevy 454 and a 440 mopar. All had roller cams and good parts. Machining there was not much difference, if anything the 454 was the worst. Most the stock chevy cast iron is like soft butter. Honestly, If you want good parts they are about the same to build. Often you will see engines made cheaper with knock off oversea's parts. Long term it may hold together..or not? But, you don't always want an engine from the lowest bidder!

The photo was fuzzy. But I assume the is Blueprint’s 745 HP 572. I know of one running in a 72 Chevelle with a 4L80E transmission. It runs 10.90s. He seems happy with it.

I just finished up a 650HP 1971 454 LS7 crate engine replica with a roller cam last winter. It wasn’t any cheaper than the 700 HP big block Mopars I built, some stuff cost more. Machining was terrible on the 454. But it is amazing Blueprint engines can build one that cheap with the warrantee they offer.. I don’t think we (curiousyellow71 and I )have more that 7K in any of our BB mopars and several are up around 700HP. But we put them together, and if they fly apart, we get to fix them.

You get what you pay for is the saying and I still stand by it..Owning a Mopar is like having the most stunning woman on the face of Gods green earth.. you’ll pay to keep her for as long as you can especially when she gives you the ride of your life.

I never was serious about any of what I posted. I was just having fun but whats funny is for shits and giggles knowing the answer, every builder i called I asked about a warranty and everyone of them stuttered but one and offered a 1 year 12k mile warranty.

It is impressive how Blue Print Engines can offer 600+ Hp engines like that 572 BBC or a 426CID Gen 3 (both are priced the same) with a 30 month 50,000 mile warrantee.

Have you heard any complaints or people having trouble with their engines?

Years ago there were some complaints, but their stuff lately seems to do real well. I’m considering a big inch small block from them for my other project

Here's an idea....

If you really want to build a chevy engine, and I understand that.....

...why not get a chevrolet vehicle to put it in?

I haven’t heard any complaints about Blue Print engines for years. They are built about 3 hours from me at Kearney, NE. There is a ton of Blue Print engine around here.

If the BBC doesn’t work out as planned, our Chevelle is getting a big block MOPAR next! LOL

I have a BluePrint Engines 408 small block Mopar built on the 360 Magnum platform. I got the full warranty with it also even though I am overseas. That engine has been in my A100 for 7 years now and hasn't missed a beat so far. It gets a good thrashing when it gets out of the garage....no babying for the engine apart from being responsible about warm-up etc.
I couldn't be happier with my purchase and more than happy to recommend BluePrint Engines to everyone - especially since my friends who had local 'experts' have all been burnt over the years with rebuilds and custom engine work.

Contact @Johnny Mac here - he is a Rep for BluePrint Engines, and they are Vendor/Sponsors of this and sister sites - FABO etc. He is more than happy to help guide you through any concerns or questions about their products.

I don't get paid to say these things....I say them because they are true.
