I don't think the Chinese are the least bit stupid. They have had an organized society far longer than the rest of the world. They manufacture junk tools to sell to us. And we buy them! Remember, everything manufactured is built to design specifications. Sorta like "garbage in-garbage out".

Why buy one ? When you can buy another. And another... and another... and another

The torque wrench and the breaker bar are probably American made. I can't speak for the extension. It looks like some ass wipe needed a 3/4 or 1" drive. 28 years in the tool business and I have seen it all.

Exactly. I got tools 50 years old. Why ? Quality, name-brand, industry-recognized. oh... made in USA.

They buy our scrap metal and turn into products to sell back to us.

I can almost guarantee you that 99% of all chinese made products are made to spec from American owned businesses looking to make maximum profit from cheap materials and off-shore labor.

                        Case in point-

                        Eric Smidt

Eric Smidt is the owner and CEO of Harbor Freight Tools which he co-founded with his father, Allan Smidt, in 1977. Under Eric's leadership, Harbor Freight Tools has become the leading discount tool retailer in the United States with over 1,200 stores and 23,000 associates

Those of you who think the chinese, or the American consumer "did this to us", are fooling yourselves.

Bought a chinesium pitman arm remover at autogone. It cracked on first use way before it got tight enough to move the arm. Took it back and clerk said get another one off the rack. One left on rack. Pulled it down and noticed plastic cover was taped on. Looked closer and saw the tool inside was cracked in exact same spot as the one I was returning. Got a full refund and found one at napa that worked.

The Chinese build everything to a price.

If you deal with them to buy goods, and try to drop their price, they drop the quality to suit the price.

If you want the good stuff, you pay their top asking price. FACT!

Don't try and haggle them down....you'll get burnt.

They make our iPhones and most of our computers. They can make good stuff if the buyer requires it. If you buy something from China and it's junk, most likely the retailer doesn't care if it's junk.

For most of my career I worked for an auto parts manufacturer. NAPA is very picky about quality and they know how to evaluate what they buy. Autogone and others buy on price and price alone.
