Front suspension completely installed. Front wheels are on and it’s a roller for the first time since August 2023.

Progress has been slow but steady.

Sonnax TR6060 trans output adapter installed.

Got the proper measurements for the driveshaft and then ordered a steel slip yoke style with Spicer1350
U-joints.

Next was installing the flaming river steering column to mock up steering shafts from the column to the rack. Made up my own firewall cover and column retainer. Drilled and tapped the shafts on the flat side so the
u-joints are super secure. Had some doubts about using just the set screws and jam nuts. Still spot faced the round side of the shafts for the set screws. Everything red loctited.

New hydraulic clutch pedal assembly and USCT DBW pedal mount.

Installed the TTI 2.5” X-pipe exhaust system and welded on the tips. Used Evil Energy exhaust clamps. Also fab’d up an extra bracket near the back to make sure the over axel pipes stayed in place.

Got the 8” wide repro steel wheels powder coated satin black. Fitted them with 295/55/15 Mickey Thompson ET Street S/S radials.

Lots of clearance between leaf springs and the inner and outer fender lips. Tires are 11.9” wide, 27.6”tall.

Scuffed the raised lettering with sand paper, cleaned with rubbing alcohol then used a white paint marker on the lettering.

Front tires are next. Trying to decide between 225/70/15 and 235/60/15 Cooper Cobra or BF Goodrich Radial T/A’s.

Had to make an extension for the shifter to be in the proper place for driving position and so it cleared the new console.

Made a piece out of scrap steel to mock it up then spent an afternoon machining the extension out of a 1” block of aluminum. Milled pockets for the base and shifter to fit into to keep everything tight in place. Slightly over engineered, just wanted it to be solid while banging gears.

Need to trim a bit more material off the trans hump so it has more clearance now.

Made up a cover for the dash out of aluminum instead of using the dash pads. Reasoning behind this… I collected 69’ lower ralley dash pads over the course of a few years. A/C center pad, drivers side and glove box door. Only to find out that the ralley dash skeleton I found ten years ago in Carlisle labelled as a 68’ - 69’ was actually a 70’. And 69’ pads don’t fit a 70’.

Bent up the aluminum in a brake and made a bezel for the Classic Auto Air vents to put them in the center of the dash.

Also fabricated a cover and mounting plate for the stereo receiver in the console. Mounted the speakers in the top of the dash, made a bracket for the center 4x10 speaker, 6x9’s mounted in the rear package tray and made up a subwoofer box that tucks into the trunk under the package tray.

I like your shifter adapter. I need to redo mine. It's in a great position for shifting, but it hits cups in the cup holder. I can't quite decide how I want to fix it though. Raising it up higher will make it too high for my tastes. I might have to switch to a ball shifter, but I love the pistol grip. I was able to fit a double din size radio in mine. It was a tight fit.

The pistol grip shifter has a great feel to it. But you gotta do what you gotta do to make it right. Your console looks great! Fits nicely over the hump.

I thought about the double din but decided on a mech-less single din for simplicity sake. Old school deck look, like I had back when I was 18.

Im currently working on mounting the console to trans hump now. I will have to test out the shifter to bottle clearance. It’s something I overlooked when I was test fitting.

The pistol grip shifter has a great feel to it. But you gotta do what you gotta do to make it right. Your console looks great! Fits nicely over the hump.

I installed some rivnuts in the tunnel at the front and into the bracket at the rear. The front was more difficult to figure out. I ended up making a few brackets. The front one I ended up splitting in two.

I have the dash test fitted with the rear of the console mounted to the brackets I welded on the USCT tunnel using the side mounting holes. I have an idea of how I’m going to mount the front now. Have metal cut, just need to bend and weld to the tunnel.

Spent some time laying in the trunk wiring up the sound system. Some old school components. The 4 channel Alpine V12 expert is from the late 90’s that I removed from my 93’ 240sx. The capacitor is from my 90’ Trans Am GTA. Sold both those cars in the late 00’s. Been saving them for a special occasion. Haven’t had bump in the trunk in long time!!
