Confused

Well I have a 1994 Jeep XJ with a 4.0 , I have read you do not need to adjust timing but there is a timing indicator and a mark on the balancer . Any input would be apreciated .

Ya my 99 durango and 2001 ram 1500 had the same. I suspect its more of a diagnostic tool then a tune up tool.
