Cost for a transmission swap from a manual to automatic

well , you will need a radiator for an automatic. you will have to rig a shifter. I swapped out my 3 speed manual for an auto in less than 3 hours , but I also had all the parts ready to go. I did not have to change the yoke or mess with the mount or drive shaft. you will also need a flexplate , lines , kick down ETC. I would never pay anyone to do this, its a piece of cake. I made a plate to go over the shifter hole on the hump and mounted the shifter to that. I had to made a rod to go from the shifter to the trans, but you could use a cable. make sure you match the converter/flexplate to the crank if it is externally balanced.
Hey I came across this old thread, and it said you swapped a 3-speed manual for a 727, what car was it in? And were you able to use your original drive shaft, I want to swap my 66 from a three tree to an automatic, with a floor shifter , I was going to go with a 4 Speed originally but I'm just getting too old to be driving a stick especially in parades which I do a lot, it sucks pushing in the clutch pedal and releasing it 5,000 times in a 45 minute time period going 3 mph LOL, I've done a ton of motor / trans swaps before, but never a manual to an automatic, I know I need the flex plate and small hub converter, and a b/e transmission or at least the tail shaft, and a trans cooler , I was just wondering the trans were the same length and I could use the original driveshaft or if I'll have to find one somewhere, thanks

10 year revival... WP hasn't participated here since 2020, when he stated there was no way in h... he'd get a COVID shot, hope he didn't jinx himself !

I just read the thread and the question that kept going through my mind for the person who started the thread was why not just teach your wife to drive a manual transmission? That makes a heck of a lot more sense than converting a stock manual Road Runner to an automatic unnecessarily. Plus its a good skill for her to have in case she is ever in a situation where she needs to know how to drive a manual transmission.
I know its a moot point at this stage, but I dont understand why so many people act like learning to drive a manual transmission is impossible.
I even recently saw a police bodycam video where some thugs tried to carjack some guy to get away but the car was a stick and they couldnt drive it and hopped out right away. There used to be a time when everyone learned to drive a manual as well as an automatic. Even knew some parents who refused to buy their kids an automatic for a first car so they would learn a manual. Lol

Nice car. I like the new for 67 bodystyle the barracuda got that year. I used to see one driving around daily for many years out here, but have never seen it in 20 years now. It was bright orange. Darts,Valiant,Barracudas and Dusters used to be everywhere.
