Go to sheplers and look for wide squares.I just ordered 2 pairs of Tecovas, black lizard. I have a wide foot and ordered their wide which is EE. Ordered my size and a half size bigger (free shipping and returns). Neither one was wide enough. They were way too narrow in the toe box, cause of the pointy toe. Sent em both back. They make beautiful looking boots but not in 4E !!!
I've been wearing my Airiat for years. I guess I've been through every boot brand there is since I was a kid. I even had a pair of elephant hides in the 90's. I don't know how they managed to sell those but they were tougher than bull hide. My son doesn't wear anything but cowboy boots. Even with shorts. My daughter and her husband do too. It was kind of a fun thing at their wedding. All the men wore cowboy boots. I'm thinking about getting a pair custom made. They aren't that much more expensive.
The cowboy boot is all about function, same as his hat. The pointed toes slip into the stirrups easy. The taller heel locks it in the stirrup. The undercut heel makes it possible to slip off your spurs. I was surprised to hear most don't know you always get on a horse from the left.
Sorry to drone on but I just watched two John Wayne movies. The Sons of Katie Elder and Hondo.
I showed my wife. She cringed. My newest pair (far right are tony lama). I have two pairs of Dan Post and the far left pair I’ve worn the name off. I’ve had them and the darkest pair for 15 years. Just had new heels put on. The middle pair I got married in two years ago and I work in them. I wasn’t real happy about the rubber sole at first, but I love them now especially when it’s wet. They are Ariats. They were literally the only pair of 15 not square toe in the entire store. So I bought them and glad I did now. Most of my boots were less than 200 or so. My oldest two pair cost over 500 a pair. I will resole them until they can’t be worn anymore. View attachment 764364
I had a pair of elephant skins 30+ years ago before I got married. Loved them. They got a little tight on me ( guess the home cooking of marriage and gaining some lbs made my foot get wider) so I didn't wear them for about 10+ years. I looked for them one day thinking maybe I could have them stretched and couldn't find them. I asked the wife where they were. " Oh, I donated them cause you stopped wearing them." I went ballistic. Needless to say, she doesn't get rid of my stuff anymore without asking. You can still get elephant! What they do now is , boot makers get a chance at the hides of elephants that die of either natural causes or elephants that must be culled to protect their habitats from overpopulation. If you have boots from years ago before the ban on elephants, you're OK also.
I bet the wedding was fun, boots are very misunderstood and can cost thousands. I enjoy wearing them.
