I didn't want to keep muddying the "Chargers for sale by crackheads" thread with non-chargers, so...I thought we should start one here as there are SO many other ridiculous cars for sale at ridiculous prices that it's obvious we have a drug problem in this country. The "Just Say No" campaign isn't so funny now, is it!

If people would stop buying these cars at those prices they wouldn't have them priced that way.
 
There's an *** for every seat. This car is
worth no more than someone is willing
to pay for it. Very few recognize the time,
effort, and expense it takes to bring a rusted
out hulk such as this car to it's former glory.
Someone will reach the deep end of the pool
and realize they're in over their head. And
either out of pure stubbornness, finish it,
or offer it up for sale again with whatever
repairs have been done, hoping to recoup
most of their loss. Mopar maniacs such as
Kern Dog, recognized this and have accepted
the over and above. If what you end up with
puts a smile on your face the first time you
put that pedal to the metal, every penny
spent is well worth it. It boils down to a
sense of accomplishment, and a "I did that"
I've the same with this. It's taken 27 years
to get it this far. Would I sell it? Hell no.
I'm going to see it done. And drive the
wheels off of it. The shocks and springs
alone on this truck cost more than $3000.

Why the big red X? What I stated was true
in that there will be some (***) out there
willing to pay a ridiculous price for this
rusted out hulk. Heaven knows their
motivations. Wether they have the fortitude
to commit to a restoration, or give up once
they realize their eyes were biigger than
there ambitions or budget, remains to be
seen. Restoring or rebuilding cars is and
should be a passion. I've got WAY more
time and dollars tied up in old iron than I
could ever hope to recoup.
It's mine. It's being build the way I want it.
And I'll not stop 'till it's done.
But the way.....I paid $51.00 on a bill of
sale for a 1940 Plymouth pickup, 27 years
ago.

Hey there...I don't understand what you meant here. Are you referring to my "Jigsaw" Charger project?
The $5000 I paid was the most that I have ever paid for any project but these cars are in high demand. I wouldn't have bought it if I didn't think that I could fix it. If I had to pay someone else to do the repairs and restoration, I'd be WAY deep in the hole with it long before it was painted.

Not that you paid a crazy price for it.
Regardless of the price paid it takes a
certain effort to see it complete. And this is
the point I was trying to stress.

The two Chargers are quite different.
The red car was bought in 2000 for $1700. It ran and drove great despite being a fairly original 30 year old car.
Jigsaw was bought 19 years later for almost 3 times as much, was wrecked and rusty, didn't run and was incomplete.
What saved me with the Jigsaw project was that I already had lots of parts to put it back together mechanically.
Doing the body and paint myself will save a BUNCH of money. I have seats, a console and carpet for it but will need other interior stuff.
