    Hi all ,
Looking for some help about my evac. System on my 68 Charger with a Hemi.

If I check my evac. System with disconnecting the breathers on the valve covers when engine in idle i not feel any vacuum , i Little Shocked because I feel the opposite , I feel the exhaust gases come out of the breather .
Seems the check valve absolutely no work .... any idea ?

The crankcase evacuation system is from Allstar and the Tube are welded in already from TTI when I order the HEMI625-218 Headers. The whole exhaust system is a 3“ from TTI with H-pipe and Flowmaster 50 series mufflers .

Now I ask my self, what’s the biggest problem and why the check valve not work .

Is the Flowmaster 50 series to restrictive muffler?
What a muffler are the best non restrictive for using a evac.system?
( I know many people say an evac. System not work with a muffler exhaust , but I see and hear also the opposite )

And is maybe the H-pipe also a Problem for an evac System ?

    Happy for any help!

You mean Vac-U-Pan?? Any pix of the install, and the locations of the welded in wyes?

They really are made for open header, high rpm. If you are testing them at idle, I'd say its not going to work well if open headers, and not at all with any muffler.

I push in breathers for many years with a pan evac system untill I started blowing the breathers off.I went to a moroso bolt in breather and 2 puke tanks.Works well, keeps any oil from entering the combustion chamber causing detonation

If the evac into header is not angled right no luck also most vacum is at high speed

Interesting , you driving also with full exhaust system inkl. Mufflers?

My breathers also blow off .

That means you not go anymore over the headers for crankcase ventilation , just put a the hose from the breather to the puke tanks with ventilation on top ?

That means for the beginning it ok I just disconnect my hoses from the headers and let it in the atmosphere ?

It also means is not necessary to switch to a PCV - system ? Right ?
Just let them breath ? No vacuum suction needed ?

Have you looked at the Wagner adjustable PVC valve. It gets good reviews.

Thanks, but I want looking more for a good alternative to the evacuation system over the headers .
Because it seems to me it not work with my full exhaust system .
But anywhere I really wonder why the not work properly and I feel some exhaust gases came up from the headers collector to my breather into my valve covers ...,

        Anywhere

I not really sure what the best solution on my set up . But I like the just breather solution maybe with an oil/air separator just to keep the engine compartment clean and oil free , and not suck in all the blowby vapors like a PCV it does .

It‘ s a 489 cui Street Hemi and use 90% just on the Street and faster drives on the Highway in Germany .

Yesterday I check deinstall my checkvalve on the collector tube and test it. The air flow in both way means the check valve not working well.
After I cut it apart I see the rubber flap full burned off.

Any idea to fix this problem before install new check valves ?

I had some old one and install it right now , but this time with a little bid Teflon around the thread before turn in on , for get the valves colder , don’t know it makes sense .

I have been told that evac system into the header collectors wont work very good with a full exh system on the car. So I never tried it on my street car as I just run a PCV system and it works pretty good for the cam I use. Ron

I can’t run and won’t run an PCV System on my Hemi.
I just can switch to breather going in to a catch can . Like Hemi-ITIS do it, but on my Hemi i drive the original sheet valve cover‘s and can not use srew on Breather on it...

Anywhere , before I switch to something like breathers with catch can first I want try to install a other muffler ... now I drive the Flowmaster 50 and read in a other conversation somebody talk about some Hooker muffler they are non restrictive and best to use for geht less backflow.

I found these guys on summit , and he talk about this mufflers

More than likely your check valves are shot, and probably because the exhaust system is too restrictive. The header evacuation will work with full exhaust system to different degrees - depending on how restrictive the system is. The check valves will be the fail point. Key to prolonging their life is minimizing exhaust restriction. First order of business is never run any kind of baffled mufflers. Straight through glass packs only - if you have to run mufflers.

Vent to atmosphere, so your not contaminating the intake air/fuel with oily crankcase air. Witch can cause detonation.

Yes, that’s the point . I think the Flowmaster 50 series are baffled mufflers . That’s the “ problem “ why the EVAC over the headers not work properly .... but I worry the hooker muffler very loud, and the police not like it

I not run a PCV on my Hemi , means not get any oily air in the intake . if my evac will work over the header properly or not anywhere I not get bad oily air in my intake . That’s ok, I just like to run the evac system over the headers but can’t do it now with full exhaust system installed , so I change actually to just two breather in the atmospäre under my hood without a catch can , but is ok no oily film on the paint in the engine compartment I can spy

even if you use a soda bottle, use any kind of oil catch can you can make!

I know it makes sense , but it makes the engine compartment in my eyes not nicer , with any kind of an catch can... so I will run just like the breather first , if I suspect some oil in the compartment I think about a catch can again

I can totally understand why you wont put the breather like I run in this pic on your Hemi.. No way would I butcher up Hemi valve covers to do that.
Course it works fine for my wedge with the valve covers I run. Myself I like having the PCV system on my eng but I did run it with just breathers for about a month when I first put the eng in the car. The hose on my drivers valve cover is all open as I just run it to the side of the eng. I did that because I thought it may spit some oil out the breather when racing onto my valve cover. But its never spit any oil. Running a breather on each valve cover worked ok but since I have enough vacuum for the PCV system I prefer to run the PCV since 99% of my driving is driving on the street. And I wanted to have the crankcase well ventilated so no moister would build un in the eng with the PCV system pulling any fumes and blowby out faster then just breathers will. Ron

Ok, but anywhere , I can’t run an PCV system . I change oil twice in a season or more if necessary
