2X4's are holding my 2 story house up. I would think it's doable as long as the load is pushing down the 2x4 not across.

That is a good point but the load is over a bunch of 2x4's not just 5-10 of them though

As a Carpenter and an ex Building Inspector, I am going to say no way should you do what you have in mind. The trusses or ceiling joists of the structure are not designed to handle that type load. It will probably fail...... My 2 cents!
