Different color exhaust valves

Any suggestions as to why the 4 valves at the back (5 - 8) on my 440 appear white, and the "front" ones black?

As I wrote, 4 white. The symmetry is puzzling.

I believe it has to do with fuel distribution and the intake manifold arrangement.
My 383 had lean cylinders in front.
This engine ran really well.

Primaries are about right, secondaries need fattened up a bit.
