Hey!
I'm new to the forums, let me know if the post is in the wrong spot or a duplicate of something else (tried to search but couldn't find it anywhere). Also, sorry if this is all obvious, but I didn't know and it would've saved me several hours of frustration.
I recently bought my 69 Charger and had issues getting the passenger door to properly close. It got to the first "click" but wouldn't fully close without a lot of force, which I didn't like.
The hinges were good and the latch mechanism seemed to work well so I figured the issue was with the striker alignnent. Well fast forward many frustrating hours of trying every conceivable position for the striker, resulting in the door just closing worse than before.
Just when I was about to give up, out of sheer luck, I found that the plastic catch on the top of the door latch mechanism is spring actuated horizontally and the door was bouncing back on it since it was almost stuck in place. After giving it some lubrication, the door closed with ease on the first attempt.
Long story short, if you're having issues getting your door to close properly it could be because of a multitude of reasons, but try lubricating the plastic catch before anything else.
