I have drum brakes on my 1970 Road Runner would like to go with disc on front. Do you guys have any suggestions for what brand to use. I see some retain my spindles Thanks

I used Leed Brakes on my 67 GTX. Installing the fronts was very straight forward and there customer service was great.

Some do retain your factory knuckles but then use a series of custom brackets and such to make it work. I’m personally not a fan of those.

I recommend changing to Chrysler A-body disc brake set up utilizing the 1973-1976 Mopar A body knuckles, rotors, caliper brackets and calipers etc. this design is what many offshore kits model after.

The knuckles and caliper brackets are often available in the used market. If time is not on your side there are lots of places to buy new (made in China likely) parts to do the job. The disposables like pads, rotors, hoses, calipers are all available from rock auto.

As previously mentioned and recommended Dr. diff is one of the many vendors that can provide you with these parts new if sourcing used stuff isn’t your bag.
Doctor diff : 10.95" Front Disc Brake Kit (Stage 1)

There is ALOT of info on this forum regarding disc brake upgrades. Spend some time with the search feature and do some research. It will benefit you much.

Good luck

This would be ideal for the OP but he wouldn’t need the upper control arms. If they were broken out and sold separately it may facilitate a sale for you?

Your part always look so good, you can see the difference between them and chinesium stuff. You get them sooo clean, must be excellent rust free specimens to start!

Ya, a B body guy not needing the upper control arms.
But i would be willing to sell the brakes separately, and just try and find a buyer over on the A bodies site for just the rebuilt upper control arms.

I run A-Body front discs with ax extra vacuum reservoir. Boy it stops alright

I have not seen anyone state wheel size. I have talked with two mechanics around central IL, and they state I would be best to increase my wheel size to 15 inches from the 14 inches standard with my 1967 Satellite. Any thoughts on wheel size?

15×7 in front and 15x8 in rear.

So this setup will work on my 1970 RR I’m installing a 426 hemi and at least put disc on front. What’s the price thanks
If you are putting a Hemi in there then put the bigger 11.75 rotors on the car. I assume you have 15 inch wheels? Are you building a "factory appearing" car or a resto mod?
Factory appearing would be limited to 15 inch rims and 11.75 rotors. A resto mod type of car could use 13 inch rotors for better stopping and then a 17 inch rim. You need to decide what you are building before you start buying parts.
I run 13 inch brakes on my stuff since the parts are available and the brakes work so much better. But big brakes don't look stock.

I have an SSBC conversion on my 66 Charger (manual) and it works very well.
Easy to install and I'm able to use the original 14" wheels. (Not sure it would work with all 14" wheels though...)
Either way I would recommend 15" wheels but even with 15" wheels it's getting tough to find a "good" tire.

A factory setup can be updated to 11.75 by just buying 11.75 caliper adapters They sell those new for slider calipers.

Then all you need is used spindles, bolts, splash shields. Get new calipers and hoses, at local parts store
splash shields are not even needed really, correct. I didn't install the shields on my car and cars in the past that I've had with them often seem to get a pebble caught between the shield and rotor and start making all kinds of noise.
