my sons 67 coronet wagon is just about done.
its got a 318 in it,a 4bbl holley and an old mallory box going to the distributor which doesnt have points anymore.
we didnt do any of this work and only putted around his bldg when we bought a few yrs back.
we took it for a maiden voyage yesterday.
it idles fine but has no power at all.
there is no smoke ,and doesnt appear to be any blowby.
i have the kickdown for the trans hooked up right and it didnt even kick down.
it feels like its got about 100 hp.
i tried advancing the timing by turning the distributer a bit and it didnt help.
the distributor is in strange too because the vac canister is pointing right at the manifold(forward).
could the distributor be in wrong?
im used to chevies which can go in on any tooth but these only go 2 ways right?

The oil pump drive has a slot which must point at the #1 left front intake manifold bolt. I use a large screwdriver with a piece of 1/8" rod (bend a short 90* on the bottom to hook under the gear) to remove. It may just spin up with the screwdriver. This is done with the crankshaft at #1 TDC. Then the distributor wiring can be placed in the factory order. After all is in order, go about your initial timing/checking both advances for proper operation. Good luck.

First thing……..Verify the TDC marks are correct.

Then, don’t guess……..put a timing light on it.

If it’s still a dud with the timing correct, there are other issues.

Make sure it’s getting full throttle.

i ordered a new jegs distributer.
ill do all of the lining it up and everything with the new one installed.
my son stepped on the gas pedal and it does pull the throttle back all the way but i did just rebuild this holley 600 and maybe theres something wrong with the secondaries opening.
