Do your cars have a names?

My daughter wanted to name her car, so she had a big contest on FABO, like a game show, and complete with prizes. She got over 5 pages of names, and we were going to name it Bob, we laughed so hard at that one. Just before the game was over, a long distance friend chimed in with “Sunfish”, we thought that was the perfect name. Jim won, got all the prizes, even some kitty treats for his kitties, and the grand prize was my full sized vintage Hurst sticker that I hand picked myself when I was just a kid. Great fun and she loved it. She loved that car more than bacon, almost as much as horses! I sure do miss that sweet young lady.

Our family always named our cars. My first 1972 Plymouth Satellite Sebring Plus was named “Molly” by my dad. She was brown and I wish I still had her. I named my spouses Chevy Volt “Sparky”. Why not? My 2012 Acura MDX is “D.W. the Picky Eater" (from PBS show “Arthur”) because she has to have the high octane unleaded. We tried lower octane only once and it didn’t go very well. The 1972 Plymouth Satellite Sebring Plus I now have is “Scarlet Sue”. Who doesn’t like Tor Red?

not mine... always found naming a car kind of odd..

We've dubbed mine Old Car and my youngest son named it smiler as it makes people smile.

So basicly, 2 cars have nicknames that are seldom used. They're more like inventory, than anything.

We had a raised roof Dodge B350, 360 4 barrel with the a Rochester Quadrajet, Vanguard camper van.It was a DOG! Put a 1973 340 Thermoquad on it. Completely different vehicle. Fun to drive. This was in 2009. I retired and we went on a trip, Calgary -I 5, Welton AZ, back up to visit Jim Rodebaugh (RIP) and his good friend Gary Wayne Ivey at Ocheleta Oklahoma.
Got home and our Granddaughter wanted to know how the trip was.
She knew it wasn’t a motor home and it wasn’t a van.
So she said how did the Homer work. From then on it was called the Homer. Maxine’s cousin gave us a 8 inch tall cloth. Homer Simpson figure that stood on the dash looking down the highway.
Realized that we had to divest ourselves from it, I couldn’t really look after it if we had a problem.
Fortunately a young single mother with a 10 year old son and an 8 year old daughter wanted to purchase it. Her father fronted the money.
She was given a discount. Later she called and said she and the kids are calling it the Homer. Still contacts once in a while with questions.

My power wagon is ‘Mack’, my old roadrunner was ‘Annie’ for the orange paint, and my 4Runner is ‘the Batmobile’. It got its name one winter when my dad and I were driving to my house from the shop and I had grabbed my dirty insulated coveralls and thrown them in the back, intending to wash them. A bat was sleeping in the coveralls and the warm car must have woke him up because I looked in the rearview and saw a little bat flying around!! We pulled over and opened the windows and the little guy flew off. Ever since she’s been the Batmobile!
