says my speedo. Quick question for someone who knows, is that little clock spring that tensions (returns) the speedo needle suppose to float? Or is that little support base suppose to catch the little bracket things to keep it in place. Or maybe the little spring base kind of floats inbetween the brackets. One other problem which I'm sure isn't helping is the little nylon bushing is floating around also. Thanks for any help. Ed

It's been a while but I'm sure the clock spring is supposed to return the needle. There is also a couple of bushings or jewel movements for the needle and aluminum cup, and when those wear out the cup hits the spinning magnet and the needle bounces. The tension if the spring also affects the reading.

Thanks. I have the basics of how it works and I'm sure if the little bushing was in better shape this wouldn't be an issue. One of those 2 cent parts you'll never see for sale unless you were the one to save a couple cases back in the day. I put it back together with a drop of super glue on the little spring bracket, will see what happens tomorrow. If I can't keep the bracket from moving, it just goes full speed. Ed
