Hey guys. The title says it all! What size heater hoses do i need to buy? And what length?

Car is a 71 Charger, 440, with A/C

Thanks boys!

No dumb *** questions are ever asked...remember that! If memory is correct, they are 5/8's and you can get them at any auto parts store in a 6ft. roll per bag. I'm not sure of exact length, sorry.

Yep, all the vintage MoPar rolling stock that I see used 5/8".

5/8th comes to mind also
And I'd say about 3- 4 foot each so get say 10 ft to be safe I can't remember the exact length and I got mineripped apart now and the old hoses are long gone hope I was of some help

5/8...if your are trying to duplicate stock appearance, you will need to know the actual layout of the hose as it snakes about to the connectors..mocking up from a picture using an old garden hose etc can get you where you can measure the exact lengths you will need..do not forget that the heater control valve will come into play and correct mounting applies here also add a couple inches to each measure length as the garden hose is a bit skinnier, trim for that perfect look.....you can do this...good luck

Not sure exactly on the 71, but my 74 does have both 5/8" and 1/2" lines. Both lines between the heater control valve and the firewall are 5/8". However, one line between the heater control valve and the pump is 5/8", the other is 1/2". I think I got about 15' of 5/8" and 5' of 1/2" Gates hoses from O'Reilly's and it was way more than enough.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I thought one miught be smaller as one of the nipples on the water pump housing is smaller than the other!

My 71 440 Charger with strato vent (with heater control valve) has one 5/8 hose and one 1/2''. Also the nipples in the water pump are different sizes. I have struggled to figure out the correct water pump housing that accepts the smaller hose nipple. I had to use a pipe bushing in the housing for the smaller hose nipple.
