Good day all, I have a 62` plymouth with an automatic push button transmission and i need to take it down for rebuilding. By any chance does any one know how to remove the shifter cable from the transmission.
It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Remove the 1/4" bolt at the adjute wheel. Pull out on the cable. Slide a pick between the cable and the case. The clip is at the top. However since you need to drain the fluid, pull the pan. Then you can see the release clip.

I agree with DVW....easier the first time to remove the pan...It is much less frustrating...

Park cable is more messy if you don't drain it and let it drip dry,,,,LOL.That one has a spring clip as well.

Double check with whoever is doing the resto that they have experience doing PB trannys. And when it comes time to put the cable back in or to do adjustments be careful with the wheel hold down bolt when torqueing not to strip it. I've had to heli-coil mine.
