Hi, I'm looking at buying a set of used RPM heads, they look like they are barely used but I'm wondering how to tell if they have been machined. They are in another state so I cant cc them, I was wondering if anyone knows what the thickness they should be at where the bolt holes are?

Thanks

Leigh

the picture resultion is not bad, if i was a gambling man, id say the are out of the box installed.

the only other ways i know of would be to CC the chambers are see what their volume is, or see if Edelbrock has a machine spec for them out of the box for comparison.

Thanks, I was wondering if the 5/8"deck thinkness was it.

Aaaaaahh Geez. The deck thickness is the thickness of the aluminum in the quench area of the combustion chamber. The head thickness at the bolt holes along the spark plug side of the head is .933" from the machined surface of the bolt hole to the head surface. This dimension is from an unmilled RPM head I have setting here on the bench.
