Electric choke on an AV2 explanation

The way I understood the operation as is that heat doesn't even enter the picture.

The choke has a timer that starts when the 12v is applied, and then that same 12v opens the butterfly (and holds it open) after the timer runs out.

I suppose I could be completely misinformed, but that's what I remember reading.

the edelbrocks i have don't have any kind of timed or timer on the chokes. the black plastic housing will let you set tension on the spring but that's it. how quick or how long the choke stays on depends on voltage to the choke. more voltage more heat quicker kick-off and vice-versa.

OK, Summit part description says the 12v is used to warm the spring.

Engine temp has nothing to do with the operation.
