Good Morning Team BBodies,

I have the engine out and pretty much ready to change out the gaskets and put on some paint. What Color is correct for the 66, 361, 2 barrel? It looks like a turquoise of some sort. Is the engine color easily found at the usual places?

It looks like it is painted back through Bell Housing, but not the Trans. Any other part of the engine that does not get paint? How about the pullies, are they Black? Any help will be appreciated. Any other advice or coaching?

Thanks to everyone.

It should be painted turquoise! And the bell housing should be as it shows! The pulleys were generally black.

As far as the color of the engine itself, it should be Chrysler Turquoise, part# TM-P4120752.

I'm sure some of our other members will chime in on your other questions about pulleys and engine paint details.

Turquoise. Every time.

When I pulled the 361 out of my '66 Coronet 500 in 1983, LONG before anyone gave a hoot about correct colors, the engine was Turquoise, the pulleys, A/C compressor, and PS pump were all a matte, or satin, black. The linkage was natural (unpainted). I believe the carb return spring was turquoise, too, IIRC. My automatic trans was unpainted. An engine-colored manual bellhousing is correct.

Engine: Turquoise P4120752AB
Pulleys: Satin Black
Brackets: Satin Black

The engine used to get painted with bellhousing, intake, valley, and likely the ex manifolds. I usually paint everything separate, and touch up the bolts. I do not paint the valley pan, and paint the ex manifolds with a hi-temp black. Brackets and pulleys get painted satin black.

What the Graveyard Carz guys do with painting the exhaust manifolds engine color is right. Of course, it burns right off and eventually oxidizes. I like painting them with a gray cast paint made for high-temp applications. Powder-coating them makes them look "wrong"...yeah, they are durable, but the look just isn't right to me.

Thank you to everyone. Is the PN mentioned above available at most Car Parts Stores, or do I need to get it from a special source?

Thank in advance,

B.

The part number I mentioned is the aerosol paint straight from Chrysler, and we do have this in stock and ready to ship.
