Ever Dine With a Famous Person (or famous person to be)?

in about 94ish the wife and I spent a few weeks tent camping in the UP of michigan. I could not tell you where we were, but at a mid week stop for a few days our neighbor was this big *** black guy....we had beers at his fire 3 nights in a row after the wives went to bed, few times till 3 am. when he packed up and left I waived and that was it.....next night a different camper came to my fire and ask how he was. turned out he was a football player that had won a super bowl or two and it never came up. I couldn't tell who or what team ( not a football fan) he was or played for but the other guy sure has a thing for him.

Well I had a beer and a burger with John Force in Columbus. Had a cup of coffee with Kenny Bernstein at Norwalk. Antron Brown seated my wife and I at his crew chief's Pizza place in Medina. Gave Herb McCandless a bottle of water at the Hemi Reunion at Quaker.
I guess I spend a lot of time at dragstrips .
Gus

I have had two famous Kiwi's sit in my GTX over the years..... the late Jonah Lomu (at his sister-in-laws wedding), and Greg Murphy (at the Beach Hop)
Both were impressed with the car....even though Jonah was more of a Chevy guy. Greg has grown up now and drifted away from GM (Holden) to the more mature taste of MoPar.

For anyone unfamiliar with Jonah Lomu .....

And Greg with his "Lap of the Gods" .....

I remember being at a car show in NZ about 10 years ago and Greg Murphy was there. At the time he had a cream 69 hemi Coronet R/T. Not sure if he still has it. Cool car though.

@440+6 Steve Marriott was great guitarist, great singer, and I am a huge fan of Humble Pie.
How loaded was Steve? He died a sad death, RIP.
Not loaded at all, it was before the took the stage, I noticed him in back checking out the warm up band and invited him to our table, I had just got an ice cold mug of beer, I offered him a drink and he said he cuoldnt stay but he would take a drink of mine if that was ok. Seemed like a pretty cool dude really, at our table less than 5 minutes.
Humble pie put on a great show!

Liberachi after playing slots next to
him for an hour or so in Vegas. He
offered to buy dinner at the Casino
Buffet.
Bob Barker in TorC New Mexico when
my sister was crowned Miss Fiesta.
(Truth or Consequences TV show
being the reason Hot Springs changed the township name.
Bob Barker was full of himself.
Very conceited, and self centered.
Eric Dickerson in Sealy Texas (where
he was born). Pleasant conversation,
and very humble.

He had the cream/yellow Hemi Coronet at the Beach Hop when I was there with my GTX.....will have to check what year that was....he was signing autographs in the Castrol tent. The queues were really long for the meet & greet with him.

That was the year that my buddy Cliff had his '65 Belvedere convertible there. I talked Cliff into entering the "Sound Off" stereo competition. All the other cars had many thousands of dollars invested in their amps, subs, and head units etc..... Cliff had a $100 head unit from Repco, and a pair of NOS 1970's Sanyo 4-Watt speaker that his wife got as a 21st gift. When it was 'our turn' to demonstrate the power of sound from the Belvy, we put on such a great show that Cliff was awarded a special prize. You could see the other contestants getting pissed off.
I had Todd Wylie in stitches with the demonstration. Repco and Beach Hop organisers changed the rules for the next Beach Hop.

Didn’t dine with him but saw Joe Walsh in an airport back when I traveled for work several weeks out of the year. I happened to be wearing an old Lynyrd Skynyrd concert shirt from the ‘87 reunion that day since I hated to wear my suit for hours while sitting in coach… I might have been maybe 25 years old then.

Anyway I was looking at the kiosk trying to find my connection and when I turned around I saw him. Very low key wearing sunglasses in the airport. I’m a big fan so I started to point (like a dumbass) and say something but he just looks straight at me, says “nice shirt,” turns and walks away.

Also saw Will Smith in New Orleans, apparently he was filming some movie but never figured out which one. Big crowd out there watching to catch a glimpse of him. Hell of a town, you can walk around drinking a beer on the street and it’s perfectly legal.

Will Smith in NO = Focus... Pretty good movie....

I've met a lot of fairly famous people in my travels, as well as through my acting side gig.

To everyone who's posted! Pics or none of it happened and your lying, prove me wrong!

Well, dang hey. Would a liked to have ONE pic of my ’67 GTO and ’70 Cuda back when. Got all of 12 photos of my 1st resto back before my phone camera. Disposable cameras were nice; often never having one handy when I wanted to take a pic. My ’63 resto, have around 250 photos.

I went to grade school with Jessica Steinhauser who grew up to be **** star Asia Carrera. Not sure it counts as "dining together", but we certainly sat at the same lunch table when we were kids. Sorry, this was in the 70's so I don't have any pics to back it up.

I went to school with Lorraine Downes aka Miss Universe New Zealand, and eventually Miss Universe 1983. I didn't eat lunch with her.....not because I didn't want to either....lol

Miss Universe NZ and still at school....just. Funny thing, my neighbours daughter became Miss Howick a few years ago, and 2nd runner-up Miss Auckland......a young blonde Dutch beauty. :bananadance:
