Exact positioning of white rope caulking 72 B Body?

The white rope caulking on my 72 SSP non A/C heater box was so disintegrated during disassembly that I can't be sure which channel or channels to place it in. Anyone have a foto, sketch, or clear description for me? (sorry, no foto included but I think you know what I mean).

And another question is the fact that I don't remember finding any gasket or sealer on the metal plate that bolts to the firewall, either on the side that bolts to the plastic heater box or on the firewall side. Does anyone put a gasket/sealer on either side of the metal plate? Don't see anything in my rebuild kit for that, funny how everything else gets sealed up and this part seems to be left out of the picture. (see foto) Thank you.

On the heater body housing should be a channel that the rope seal goes into.

Should be a round foam seal that goes between the box and firewall.
