Any ideas on what would cause the windows to be ultra tough to crank up? This is a 67 Coronet.

Dirt, dried out grease, etc.. Clean and grease all of the window regulators, blow the dirt out of the window fuzzies.

I would 1st remove the interior panel, so I could see all the moving parts.

Most likely everything that was originally lubed is now dry, so I would WD-40 & regrease:
- the crank mechanism (aka regulator)
- the slide(s) at the end of the arm(s) going to the bottom of the window
- the rollers (i.e.: rear window)

If it's still stiff, it may need to be re-aligned...that being the channels. This can be a trial-and-error effort until you see what each adjustment effects. Sometimes loosening one or two adjustment points will let the window 'tell you' where it needs to go.

It happened on my 66 Belvedere too....the window got to where it wouldn't even move and that's when I decided I put it off long enough and tore into it. After cleaning everything up and greased the regulator, it worked like new. Mine is a 2dr post but it was very easy to do and had it out of the door in 15 minutes.
