I have a 65 Belvedere 440 in the stock location with a meziere electric pump and electric fan. I am wondering if anyone has used a pusher fan to free up space and if so does it cool well?
I'm told that puller fans set up properly will flow some more air across the radiator than a pusher due to the ability to use a shroud with a puller which funnels the air . I'm going to be in the same boat as you as these early b bodies are a little tight for room up front. I was told by two radiator companies not to worry and just use good pusher fans with a good radiator ,26" if you can,and it will be fine.
All of my fans threw full beers at me......on a serious note, I used one of those old style sewing machine motor type deals that belt drives the pump and fan and never had a problem. Didn't always look the best but have always been low buck and it's worked well for me. Car was a 68 road runner, 440 spooling 7300 in the traps.
If you remove the latch assy and pin the hood the radiator can be mounted in front of the core support. Then there us room for a real fan. Pushers are not as efficient.
