fbbo?

I mostly use my phone and man it's like someone threw up ads all over my phone, lots more clicking to do. Close arrows, ads covering posts...etc..

Chrome on my old laptop, ads galore.

DDG browser on Android phone and newer (win11) laptop...no ads. No popups.

Food Lion aisle 5
I couldn’t resist

Funny, this has come up. Yesterday, I received a message from Joey pleading for me to purchase a Gold Membership as it helps with "the costs" of his administering this site, etc., etc., etc. I used to do it every year, but stopped because what it offers isn't what I am interested in anymore, and as mentioned above, 50.00 bucks won't even cover a 36-pack of beer these days. I then began using an Ad Blocker extension on just about every site I frequent, and do not have a tremendous amount of ads anymore, which provides me with my own control of the content I wish to receive. Joey doesn't like it at all; however, there isn't anything he can really do about it!!! Short of banning one from the site, which isn't a good idea if one is not breaking any rules. Besides...the way costs are climbing, I can think of better places to spend 50.00, which will help with food and groceries...cr8crshr/Bill :usflag: :usflag: :usflag:

Are you sure this is not a spammer getting into your email ???

I also received the same private message.
me too.
The extra ad volume recently and this thread got me thinking about adblockers. I mostly use an iPad these days and never gave them much thought, as they previously were just a minor annoyance.
I looked online a few days ago and found Adblock in the App Store. Downloaded it, and not only did the extra ads disappear here, but when I look at YouTube all the ads disappeared there too!
Thanks for the extra pop ups and ads here getting me motivated to do a deep dive into Adblockers!

Can one of y'all copy and paste the message on here??

That would be helpful. Just to see what we are dealing with here. It's probably just a software generated message.

It's interesting that both of those messages are different. One for PC and the other written for phone?

This is the one I got:

Hi Triplegreen500! I hope your spring has been great!

I wanted to take a moment and invite you to become a FBBO Gold Member.

FBBO is expensive to run, and we rely on member donations to buy things like new servers, bandwidth and software upgrades and enhancements. As you may know, we have bought new servers this year and worked extensively on the software to improve things for you, and more great things are coming.

Too offset the costs we have incurred this year, we are asking members to become a FBBO gold member and donate to the cause. Members who donate are given Gold Member Status.

As part of our thank you for being a FBBO gold member, we thank you with a few perks such as:
NO display ads
Ability to send photos in private messages
Ability to edit posts for 30 days
Larger private message storage
Free FBBO Decals (upon request)
Access to the "Gold Member Only" forums
For more information, please click the orange button below or click this link: Become a Gold Member
