Does anyone know much about or anything about VFN Fiberglass? Here is a link to their website. http://www.vfnfiberglass.com/site.htm I'm trying to find a bulge hood for my SE and it is like finding a needle in a haystack. Original or repoped steel seem to be impossible to locate. I've found a couple of companies that make fiberglass version and they seem to be very resonable on prices including VFN. A bolt on bulge hood is listed for $405 on their site. This really seems like a heck of a deal, but I dont want to get something that will cost a fortune in labor to make it fit or crack later down the road. Any thoughts or suggestions?

thanks but my Charger is a 71. This guy doesn't have anything to fit. I even called Stephen's Performance in Alabama, and he didn't have any hoods.

I'm gonna start a poll to see what people prefer.

71-74 hoods are the same or atleast that is what I have been told.

The non R/T Super Bee and air grabber bulge hoods are the same except the rear louvers and '74 had no louvers.

I used VFN for my WO23 hood scoop and was disappointed by both the time it took to get and the quality of the piece. It wasn't packaged well either and had a cracked front lip upon arrival. It just doesn't seem very rigid and I'll need to reinforce some areas.

Surely that was just a rare case. How could they be in business for over 40 years and be as big as they are with that kind of quality and service?

Found someone else that makes reproduction fiberglass hoods today. There is a place called Penstar Reproductions out of Warminster, PA. They manufacture all kinds of MOPAR parts from 1968- 1974. There prices are a little higher on the hoods than others but if the quality is there, I don't mind paying a little more. Does anyone know much about them?

In the 60's and 70's Jensen was the speaker on the market, but would you buy them now?

Businesses change, some go up or stay up and some go down and sometimes way down.

vfn are very good quality pieces imo. diid you try AAR FIBERGLASS. These are the best scuff and paints fiberglass parts out there.

I have looked on their website, but they don't list one for my car. I am going to call them and see. Thanks for giving me reassurrance on VFN. Their prices are great. I know they make to order, but I don't mind waiting on it.

There's a clean steel one on new York Craig's list right now.

There's one down here, too.....$1200

I see this thread has been bumped.

Stinger (formerly AAR) is now making these and had them at Don Garlits last November.

There's a 71 r/t hood in the for sale section right now it's down in fl.

I have a AAR fiberglass hood for my 71 runner, not bad, the part i didn't like is where the hinge bolts to, the nuts in the hood were glassed in crooked on the one side, and sometimes i'm afraid I'll overtighten the bolts too much and break them off inside the hood, what do you do then? I try not to think of this :)

I am not sure who made the one I have as it was on the car when I bought it, but after hearing horror stories of how wavy 'glass hoods were and even my paint guy telling me about having to cut 3/4" off one side at one end and none off at the other end to get one to fit, I am at the very least not annoyed by the fitment or appearance. If you really look, you can tell it is fiberglass, but I'm not entirely sure that isn't the less than show quality paint job by the previous owner. Anyone know how to identify the manufacturer?
