Well, it was bound to happen. Just when we all thought the authorities were down on our 'noise makers', here's one state, Maryland which has introduced legislation designed to come up with a solution to vehicles that don't make enough noise. I'm sure very few on this board can claim such behavior. Just another reason to support our hobby.
Really, this is good...especially the "Maryland Quiet Vehicles and Pedestrian Safety Task Force" !!!!!
Subject: Vehicle Noise
Bill: SB 12
Description: Requires the Maryland Quiet Vehicles and Pedestrian Safety Task Force to report by June 30, 2013, on findings and recommendations regarding the minimum sound level and sound characteristics to be required for all new vehicles sold and registered in the State; Task Force is attempting to come up with solutions to the issue of quiet/silent hybrid and electric vehicles, which pose a danger to pedestrians at intersections.Intro Date: 1/14/11
Who wants to give O'Malley a call and suggest 'cow catchers' on the front of every hybrid and electrical vehicle ? Or, how about the "Pedestrians Looking Left, Right, then Left Again" Task Force, or ?....well, you get the idea.
