Ford responds to Dodges Hellcats.....

Just because you have than much hp doesn't mean that you have to be on it all the time. You can't go top speed on any highways around where I live in eastern MA, so me going 185 mph is out of the question. Besides, I don't think I'd want to go that fast even if I had the opportunity to. For me, all that hp is fun when taking off from a stop light, or just giving the throttle a jab at speed and having it take off. In other words, just a few seconds at a time.

Isn't that how most of us drive anyway?

I test drove a Hellcat 3 weeks ago and got it up to 164 (about 128 through the first 1/4 mile) on that run and it was a blast.

If I could sell my GTX I would have one the next day! What a rush!

This reminds me of the old Cobra vs Hemi debate that raged throughout the 80s and 90s. All the Cobra guys said the Cobra was the fastest production car, but it was never a true production car. It was essentially a very-limited production, handmade, specialty car, and comparing to a mass-produced car was apples and oranges as well.

When I was a youngster with my '70 Cuda drop top, I got into all sorts of trouble with the local PD! They had me on their most wanted list pulling me over at every occasion giving me **** about the so called illegal fog lights on the car which I said were "...factory, check it out first pal before you write me another ticket...". I was banned from the local McDonalds as the story went someone saw me doing a burnout in a car that looked like mine and was enough for the PD to blame me. Then of course one night I got hauled in for reckless driving; it was a matter of my foot slipping off the clutch to move out quick into cross traffic when a space opened up. I did a little burn as there was some loose gravel at the intersection. Well I guess I know what discrimination feels like; me and my Cuda were marked! On the other hand having the HP I used it a bit too often and my next car was a small block '73 Challenger that had zilch for HP...kept me out of trouble and back at Mac's!

V-6?! How utterly disapointing

How often am I going to see one of these driving down the road or in a parking lot randomly?

NEVER

How often am I going to see a Hellcat driving down the road or in a parking lot randomly?

I've already seen 2 running around less than 30 miles from my house :hello2:
Bummer ....I can't stand carbon copies.

Peanuts and popcorn - two different cars. Hp hasn't anything to do with it

We always hear from those that ask the "question"? Why the need for more power when it can seldom or ever be used?

I ask back about -how often we get -anywere near- the top power that any car we play with can make. A good example is the 440hp engine of the late seventies VS the Hemi of the same days. They both can kill us in a sec. when they are making --all they can make.

I have yet to feel all of the 700HP from my hellcat and may never find the place and time to do so.

So If Dodge came up with something with let's say 800HP (very much depends of the style of vehicle) I would be interested cause it's an instinct I have. I admit I have a problem and after working for many years I can afford to feed my (irrational) problem.:) And like it.
