I am working on the leaded area in the corners on top the winshield cowl area. I have seen many B Bodys crack in this area. Has anyone dug the lead out of this area a nd metal patched it. It seems like this is a structural area on the car. I would like to metal patch this area and then work it out with my duraglass and filler after the metal patch. Will this keep it from cracking?

I've taken the lead out of the last 3 early B's I've built, and then welded the entire line, instead of just the spots the factory put on it. I then used something like Long & Strong to fill it back, before finish. I don't see why you couldn't put a plate there if you want even more strength and less fill.

The best way to fix it is to cut it out and patch it.Duraglass what the hell do you need that for.If you take your time and patch it correctly and don't warp it up there is no need for durahack.Durahack does not stop moisture or is it strong enough to replace proper sheetmetal work.Duraglass is a fiberglass filler and should be used as intended to fill fiberglass.Sorry for the rant I just hate to see people wasting time and money for a crap repair.Metal should be repaired with metal and plastic filler is used to fill imperfections left from the metal repair.Such as a properly fit and welded patch.

I've often wondered about that area. I just assumed it was torque stress from being unit-body with a powerful motor. I've seen lots of atempted fixes that came back...most worse than what they tried to fix.

Anyone got pics of this area with the lead removed?
