It's been 27 years in the quest to build a
custom built tube frame that fits the
sheet metal of a pre-war pickup. There
we're a number of factors that played into
this build.
Number one was the availability of a truck
of that Era. It just so happened, my supervisor
of the job I held at the time was a Mopar
maniac. (He built a metal building adjacent
to his home that housed at least 20 different
makes and models of Chrysler corporations'
finest).
He was a Vietnam veteran, and sad to say
he's no longer with us. A victim of cancer
stemming from agent orange.
I had the highest hopes of finishing this
project before he succomed. In my 47
years as a mechanical engineer, he is at
the top of the list of supervisors/bosses
of the many jobs I've held.
He sold me a weathered. beat up, well used,
(not rusty) 1940 Plymouth PT-105 for
exactly $1.00 more than what he paid for it.
Through the process of trial and error (since
this build is my first Mopar), I have a few
brand new, still in the package, parts I'd
like to donate in Verns' honor. If you
are willing to pay the shipping, and if you
can use them, PM me. I will post pics of
what I have. There's not a lot, but I can't
in all due respect, just put them on the
shelf. The spirt of this man will carry on.
God bless.

Vern sounded very cool, Extremely good thing to do on your part in his honor. :usflag:

Nice thing to do in his honor, he must have had quite an impression on you. 440'

He certainly did. First time I went 130mph
in a Dodge Dart.

A wonderful way to keep Vern's memory and charity alive. Very good of you, sir ! A mentor is one who shares and instills a passion in another. I would say he did a fine job !!

Good for you!! You're a good friend and I'm sure he knew that!

Hello all,
I've posted pics of what's available and
have not recieved a single request.
Package deal, or single part request,
my offer still stands. My apologies
for bringing to the top, an old thread.
Ol' Vern is a strong presence in my
remembrances, and his spirit would
live long through others. What I have
to offer isn't much, but it would be
nice to know you just might have
a dedicated veterans" spirit
accompanying you in your travels.
It was suggested I offer these parts to
veterans first and foremost. I live in a
very small town. Very few Vietnam
era vets, and even fewer that are
nuts about Mopar.
I post, once again what I would like
to donate. Shipping charges are my
only request.20230602_165930.jpg20230602_165910.jpg20230602_165650.jpg20230602_165547.jpg20230602_165437.jpg20230602_165339.jpg20230602_165315.jpg20230602_165141.jpg
