If I use a black base under the gg1 paint that would make the gg1 darker correct. Or does it even matter for a base coat.
 
It will help with coverage. Once covered the base won’t make a big difference. That green is probably transpa though. If you use a PPG base coat, the jobber will have what ‘g’ shade goes on as sealer. Darker colors get a darker base to help with needing less coats. If it’s transparent you’ll still need the coats regardless.
