Going from 8 3/4 to Dana 60 9 3/4 drive shaft question

Hey guys I'm looking to change rear differentials in a 70 RR from a 8 3/4 to a Dana 60.

what is the difference in drive shaft length?

Any other things to consider (the Dana is coming out of a 69 B-body so spring perch etc dimensions are same there)

diff is coming with e-brake cable and is complete with 11" backing plates, brake mechs, drums, drums etc

Just did it... cut the shaft 1" I had already shortened it for a Gear Vendor OD and may have been a little on the short side already. Check the U joint, I did it on a 64 and will be using one of the two different sized u joints, Picked it up today will be installing sat am. everything else you have should be the same.

This chart is kinda goofy. Page 3 should be to the left of page 1 so you can match the model/ engine combo to the prop shaft.

Yes, you need to be 1" shorter + or - 1/8" or so but it's always best to do an actual measurement to be sure. And those charts are a good guide imo because production tolerances were never on the money. If the engine was sitting back 1/4" from what it was supposed to be and if the rear end was sitting forward 1/4" (I've seen it), then you can be 1/2" too long so do the measurements.
