Had to produce a Birth Cert to renew my driver's license but not my.....

I was able to renew the last three times online, and the last one was for 12! years.

This one is "safe driver" (snicker) and is only for 8 years.

New card is kinda funny.
All sorts of "copy proof" features including a semi-clear circle.
..and it's purple and ping swashes on the background.?.
My carry license is for 5 years.....don't remember how long ago I got my DL the last time and haven't renewed it yet.

Since I have entered my 70s, I have to renew my license every 6 years here in NV. I can no longer do it online and must do so in person each time now. I am debating whether or not I will renew in my next renewal sequence, as I just might quit driving altogether and have the DAV be my transportation provider. I am still fairly competent in driving skills and can navigate quite nicely when driving either my grocery getter SUV or my truck. I could just keep on driving without a valid DL, but why push it in the first place??? cr8crshr/Bill :usflag::usflag::usflag:

....concealed carry license??? It sorta makes sense for this state lol
Will they take a passport to get your license? That's proof of your citizenship.

When I was in Hawaii, I did not have any Hawaii ID.
They had their own credit check system, using your drivers licence as ID. I had registered my NZ drivers licence, with the credit check folks. So when I went to pay with a cheque, I was most often told I could not use my NZ licence. Try it I would say, which they did, and usually exclaimed, it works.
Everything was $10 in those days.

You don't need a CCW in Texas anymore...constitutional carry (lucky bastards). Although a license does have some extra perks:
LTC Benefits | Department of Public Safety
One advantage to having a license is that I'm allowed to conceal carry in many establishments. If you're not licensed, you are prohibited from going into those places that have signage saying so and most do. I looked into it before deciding whether to renew or not. Will probably have to present my BC for the next renewal though....if I live that long!

Recently did the Real ID dance in NJ. Honestly, it wasn't all that bad, trick being getting an appointment on a non-busy mid-week day early in the day. It did require multiple proofs including BC. I will refrain from further commentary to avoid getting slapped off.

It's funny you would need to produce a Birth certificate to renew a license that has already been established, but it reminded me of my scenario when I moved from Minnesota to Wisconsin back in 1983. I went to the DMV to transfer it and was told I needed a Birth certificate. I told the guy, I got a speeding ticket a couple weeks ago and the Wisconsin State Trooper believed my ID was legit but he was insistent. Mine burned up in a fire when I was 10 years old. I never needed it to go to school, Join the Navy or any other thing until I moved to Wisconsin in my mid thirties. Since I was born in North Dakota, I had to contact the State records division in Bismarck by phone. I gave them my parents names, the date and location of where I was born and they said, "mail us $8.00 and we will send you a copy." When I went back to the DMV with my copy, I told the guy if I had known where and when he was born, I could have brought his birth certificate.
