So yeah, had to pull a lock the brakes up fast hard stop from about 35 mph and it ended up causing my fan to slam into my radiator gashing into the core and wrecking a fan blade...........I was beyond a little annoyed to say the least.

My concern is that this even happened. I wouldn't think that the engine/trans/etc would be able to move far enough to cause this. Before I climb under the car and tighten motor mounts/k member/trans brackets are there any other things you can think of I should be checking? I know my clearance was a little tight between the fan and radiator, but as far as the blade cut into the radiator there was at least 1-1 1/2" of movement during the stop.

On the plus side, I am now 100% confident in the stopping power on the 4 wheel drums.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Flex fan? That is a crap load of movement unless both your motor mounts and trans mount are broken.

A 35 MPH Quick stop should not have done that damage. im with the Reverend on this one... you have other issues there my friend!:headbang:

That happened to me once and it was the water pump. Either the bearings went or the shaft broke.

only time that happened to me was when i not only stopped hard, but tapped a rear bumper at about 5 mph.even then it ended up being the flex fan with the large blades that"flexed"into the rad and not any eng movment.something had to have broken to take up that much room.

found one loose motor mount, one missing K member bolt on the opposite side of motor mount and about to go back and check tranny mount..............

be thankful for this i guess as you found a problem which could of gotten potentially worse.

my 2 cents get electric fans
