Have you gone back to exhaust manifolds from headers? Any regets?

I don't race. I just chug around and go here and there in a junky 383 RR.

Thanks.

Absolutely I went back.

I got tired of fixing exhaust leaks from dragging headers on speed bumps and driveways.

No regrets

Their are some pretty good stock HP manifolds you could put on and most likely see no differance in performance!
I say go for it on your street cruiser!!!

First thing I did on the 68 was trash the junk headers and install the HP manifolds that I had on the shelf. If they had been some high quality pieces, Hooker/TTi, I probably would have kept them on.

Problem some of us have are the aluminum heads and stroker motors need to breathe. having stock manifolds would bring down performance I think. Although most of us go through the crappy header phase cuz of $$ and eventually end up with a set of TTI's once we hit the lottery :) For us it's a pain we live with. I am living with hooker super comps that hit steering box on one side and shock tower on the other:( not hurting anything just sux to look at and the occasional rattle of the pipes hitting the body not to mention the extra 700 degrees of heat on the fire wall and floor boards...Like I said living with the pain...

I've always gained performance after installing headers. My 71 340 Cuda had a set of Hooker Super Comps on it for the 18 years I owned the car. After installing only an aluminum intake and a decent carb, performance usually picks up but once the headers were on, it picked up even more. Don't recall ever owning a muscle car that didn't get headers on it within a short time. My Cuda did drag them so I raised the front end about a 1/2" and that went away....and I stay off of roads with speed humps and won't do business with places that have them in their parking lots.
