Headers: A love, hate relationship...

Ran Super Comps on a 71 340 Cuda. Full size starter (small motor) would squeeze in and out without loosening the header! The headers were on it when I bought it and were still on it 15 years later when I sold it. With my driving style, I will always have headers on my street legal hot rods and I ain't no spring chicken anymore. I also have a set of new TTI's hanging on the wall waiting for the car to be ready for them. Never run TTI before so the jury is still out on if I'll like them or not but I sure like the looks of them. Heavy duty flanges and the tubes seem to be thicker....

Exhaust manifolds are for the following:

Guys who want to maintain a factory stock appearance.
Guys who are cheap.
Guys that have limited mechanical ability.
Guys that never exceed 4500 rpms.
Guys with limited patience.
Guys that live on bumpy roads that worry about damage.

It's not the headers that's a problem, it's the torsion bars. Lose those and you're headaches are gone. I can drop the 2-1/4 tube TTI's outa my car in 15minutes. The mini starter comes out without dropping the headers.

Relax Tripod dog.
One sad fact: OLD guys tell OLD jokes that everyone has heard, while thinking that THEY are the first ones to tell them.
I can see by your posts that you are content with your car and that is great. There is room enough here for guys like you that still like to set their ignition points and drive at 55 on the freeway. There is room for guys that never exceed 3500 rpms, never race their cars, always maintain 12 car lengths of space on the road....I'll bet that you live a thrilling life.

Arguing on the internet is like being in the special olympics- even if you win, you're still a retard.

hooker super comp with dod ram starter-small no problem -might wrap header tubes around starter-keep cool and see what happens
