I'm fighting with the headliner in my 66 Coronet. It was never installed correctly and I think that when someone put it in they did not have the correct bows for the car and used other ones. I removed the headliner and marked the bows, then pulled them out of the headliner and put them up in the car.

What I need to know is if anyone has done a headliner before and how tight the bows are to fit against the roof. I have some bows that are way to tight and you can not swing the bow front to back. That will stop me from keeping the headliner tight I am sure. Once I know how they are supposed to sit, I can cut the one that will not fit correctly in any position and make it fit.

I called a place that sells the bows but they apparently do not know how tight they are supposed to be. Their bows are cut to fit also.

Thanks for any information.
Ron

Mine fit pretty tightly. I was worried they wouldn't position right, but once I got the headliner in, and it was the headliner material sliding over insulation, they all went into position as soon as I pulled the headliner forward.

just pulled the headlinner from my 67 and the bows are pretty tight against the roof but i can slide them from front to rear and visa versa.hope that helps.

Thank you both very much. This answers all my questions and I do appreciate the help. Maybe now if I get some time I can get this thing back together and drive it some.

Thanks
Ron
