Ok so how does the 6 clips go in for the trim piece? Do I cut the headliner were they go or just push them in? Will they be some what loose or tight? Thanks for any help, this weekend project.

Dave, I'm glad you're ahead me in the process. I'm watching your progress & questions.

I wish I never would have taken those stupid brackets off...no matter what I tried I couldn't get them to relock back in with any confidence. Didn't want to chance them falling out later, once the windshield is in, you're blocked out.
I ended up running a screw in to hold them good.

Those clips look like the ones on my 65 Belvedere. I modified the clips and installed nut serts and 10-32 screws to retain them.

Bringing this thread back to life...Has anyone been able to find these front headliner clips? Year One, Classic Ind, Junkyard Dodge, etc. don't have them.

I can't remember if you squeeze or expand the tabs to get them tight but you will see how they go.

I do the exact same thing.

Good morning, I have installed the front headliner cap mounts (with a screw to make sure they stay). I do have a question though, What are the square holes on the furthest outside end of the windshield?

Also, for a '69 Charger do these clips look correct? They do seem different from photos above. I'm not sure if they are just a different looking bracket but ultimately work...just not sure.

The square holes get one of those clips like you have in the installed in the round hole in the pic. There are six clips for mounting that molding. That's how it is in my 70 GTX.

Good lordy mercy....did the factory run out of drill bits and have to go to a punch? One of life's mysteries I guess ;)
Thanks for the info!

Whatever is the cheapest and fastest to get the job done!

I'm convinced that these clips were meant to be a one time install. I'm guessing the factory had a hydraulic tool that pressed these clips into those square holes for the ultimate secure. And meant not to be re-installed by hand. Yeah some say they spread or squeezed those tabs to fit securely. I call it being lucky. I wouldn't trust them anyway not to loosen up again. So like the replies above I did the same by using a screw in each clip. Also using sealant for each screw.
