- Drinking one glass of water before going to bed avoids stroke or heart attack.

Something else I didn't know ... I asked my Doctor why people need to urinate so much at night time.

Answer from my Cardiac Doctor: Gravity holds water in the lower part of your body when you are upright (legs swell). When you lie down and the lower body (legs and etc) seeks level with the kidneys, it is then that the kidneys remove the water because it is easier. I knew you need your minimum water to help flush the toxins out of your body, but this was news to me.

Correct time to drink water... Very Important. From A Cardiac Specialist!

Drinking water at a certain time maximizes its effectiveness on the body:
2 glasses of water after waking up - helps activate internal organs
1 glass of water 30 minutes before a meal - helps digestion
1 glass of water before taking a bath - helps lower blood pressure
1 glass of water before going to bed - avoids stroke or heart attack

I can also add to this... My Physician told me that water at bed time will also help prevent night time leg cramps. Your leg muscles are seeking hydration when they cramp and wake you up with a Charlie Horse.

Mayo Clinic on Aspirin -Dr. Virend Somers is a Cardiologist from the Mayo Clinic who is the lead author of the report in the July 29, 2008 issue of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
Most heart attacks occur in the day, generally between 6 A.M. and noon. Having one during the night, When the heart should be most at rest, means that something unusual happened. Somers and his colleagues have been working for a decade to show that sleep apnea is to blame.

1. If you take an aspirin or a baby aspirin once a day, take it at night.
The Reason: Aspirin has a 24-hour "half-life"; therefore, if most heart attacks happen in the wee hours of the morning, the Aspirin would be strongest in your system.
2. Aspirin lasts a really long time in your medicine chest; for years. (when it gets old, it smells like vinegar).

Something that we can do to help ourselves - nice to know. Bayer is making crystal aspirin to dissolve instantly on the tongue. They work much faster than the tablets.
Why keep Aspirin by your bedside?
It's about Heart Attacks -There are other symptoms of a heart attack, besides the pain on the left arm. One must also be aware of an intense pain on the chin, as well as nausea and lots of sweating; however, these symptoms may also occur less frequently.

Note: There may be NO pain in the chest during a heart attack.
The majority of people (about 60%) who had a heart attack during their sleep did not wake up. However, if it occurs, the chest pain may wake you up from your deep sleep. If that happens, immediately dissolve two aspirins in your mouth and swallow them with a bit of water.
Afterwards: - Call 911. - Phone a neighbor or a family member who lives very close by. Say "heart attack!" - Say that you have taken 2 Aspirins. - Take a seat on a chair or sofa near the front door, and wait for their arrival and ........DO NOT LIE DOWN!

A Cardiologist has stated that if each person after receiving this e-mail, sends it to 10 people, probably one life could be saved! I have already shared this information. What about you? Do forward this message. It may save lives!

What a response? I got a good laugh out of that !!!!!

Why do people wake up at night and need to urinate?
Because they drank a glass of water at bedtime!

I couldn't drink that much water if I tried.

**** is no joke......sept 8 will be a year for me, 51 years old and had a 95% blockage opened up with a stent......I thought I was indestructble

Will have to change the asprin schedule. Drinking 80 oz of water a day is not all that hard if you get use to it. 32 oz's at lunch time is a norm.

You old guys need to take your aspirin !

I've had 2 H.A.I have high blood pressure I didn't even know I had them ! Damn sneaky things be safe guys it's cheaper to buy and take a aspirin or two at bed time then to pay for an ambulance ride and a week in the hospital or worse!

I also have a case of bad Arther days. If you take ibuprofen consult your doc he may not want you to take asprin that day.

Why then torture your self by opening them? As far as spelling, I distinctly recall you preaching to us just how easy it was to spell. Then you admitted to using a spell checker in another thread. I hate to be critical here but isn't that being hypocritical? Karma is such a good thing to watch when it happens.

I wonder if his copy/paste went uncorrected?

Your desire to share information that will help people is very admirable. However, many of these chain emails contain information that sounds good but is not accurate. There is no doubt that drinking enough water keeps your body working properly. Also, there are cardiac benefits to taking aspirin. But, the info in your email is mostly inaccurate. A quick google search shows many links that bust the myth of the chain email you posted. Here's a link to one. You do get an "A" for effort though !!!!

Thanks for the advice Auggie  ....but I have also read that drinking too much water can be more harmful than not drinking enough.

I know what most of you are thinking, "does beer count?"

NO

That sounds pretty definite:). Is the water in beer bad water?
I get my fluids/water in many ways. Beer is one of many.
What I have not done is start to carry a plastic bottle of water wherever I go. Also, I quit making a pot of coffee every morning to test my habit vs need. Five years out without coffee and no urge to go back.

An important issue that comes into play when we discuss medical information in a place like this is some folks may be in need of urgent help and a few lines of comfort here could do great harm.

Posters and readers beware.--This is not a clinic.

The huge amount of ads for drugs in the media is the same thing. What is also distressing is the ads from law firms that want your participation in class action suits for medical claims.

Your health and even your vanity is at risk.

Example--I had an inguinal hernia repaired recently. All is well with me.---But--I see ads on TV that seem to ask me to sign up for a class action suit just in case I may have an issue with my procedure. I am fine happy and healed. ---Perhaps not so much for the surgeon that fixed me.
