Heater Box - 70 Charger

I'm now working on the non-AC heater box for my 70 Charger SE. Since there was a mouse nest and a lot of rust in it from sitting 40+ years, I bought a couple of used heater boxes for parts (generally listed as 68-70 heater boxes). As I've been sorting through the brackets and cleaning them up, I noticed a few differences. Just wanted to verify with the gurus here before I paint.

1. The fiber box itself seems to be 1/3 grey - is that normal for a 70?

2. The panel that has the fan motor mounted to it is Yellowish (anyone know a paint color that matches it). It's not just rusted, it's definitely a different color than the other 2 heater boxes

3. The fan is plastic - older ones seem to be metal

When I restored my 65 Belvedere box I gently glass beaded the surfaces and then sprayed it with a satin clear. I was pleased with it's appearance.

The box should not be half gray. They were not painted, bare "plastic" of some sort.

That metal piece was bare when it left the factory. It just looks rusted now, like most turn into.

Someone was playing around with that heater box.

My '70 Charger is a non-ac car. I'll take a look at mine in a day or two, weather permitting, and take some pictures.

I don't recall anything being painted.

The yellow panel probably wasn't painted originally - was probably yellow zinc dichromate (spelling?) or something similar by the looks of it. If you can tell me if the fiber box is partially grey (not black) over by the vent that would be good.

Here is a very clean original non A/C box. The front cover is semi gloss black, that is the only paint on it. See the metal is bare, it has surface rust starting in the area of the motor.

Mine is grayish black kinda like the air grabber box. @dadsbee should have pics

Thanks - that panel on my 70 looks a lot more yellow & it's not rust I'll grab a couple more pics this morning next to the other panels.
