Hello everyone, I have a 69 charger that will be a restomod. 6.4 hemi with the tr6060 and alterktion front suspension already purchased. My question which I understand may be stupid, but… can a hellcat rear suspension (cradle and all) be fabricated to fit? I feel like if the mounting points on the cradle are the same width as the frame rails then technically it could? Has anyone tried or had this thought?

Not as a bolt in. All the mounting points would have to be fabricated and fitted into the Chargers unibody. I saw somewhere that it was done. It might of been an E-Body. It was a lot of cutting and fitting.

You are not the first to ask the question, but the answer is as provided, lots of fabrication required.
Do you know if the rear frame lines up with the mounting points on the hellcat? I just mean in width. I know a lot of fab would be needed but I wouldn’t want to distribute weight in an offset vertically.
 
How do you title the car after body swap? Technically you killed the old car also in the eyes of the DOT it’s dead and would need a builders or assigned VIN. I would keep a solid axle.. Ask around there are plenty of guys here that make them work well. The added bonus is it’s much more durable than an independent set up and wheel hop won’t be an issue if you use a pinion snubber...everything breaks, metric stuff is a pain.

Doesn’t sound stupid. I have that set up on my 71 road runner.

I do not believe that they align very well. There was a guy over on Protouring.com I think it was that did a Charger with a salvaged IRS from a newer Charger or something. As I recall he had to basically reinvent the rear of the car to accommodate it. Also the fuel system has to be "reimagined" because of a lack of room.

As noted, anything can be done with enough time and money (not to mention tools and skills). It can be done but you have to decide if the view is worth the drive. At that point just do a complete frame from Art Morrison or Schwartz. That said, probably both of those companies make a rear clip that could be grafted in verses trying to figure it out on your own.

If you had the title to both cars I would think that you could probably title it as either depending on the state you live in. That said, I would "think" that if you put old sheet metal on something like a Hellcat you still have a Hellcat with different clothing. That said, if you dump a Hellcat drive train into a 70's muscle car then you still have a 70's muscle car.

Perhaps in some but in others it looks pretty awesome. There was a guy at SEMA that is putting Cuda sheet metal onto a newer Challenger and they look legit. If it didn't cost $150K plus a donor I would be all over it. Also there is a guy on YT (Steve Marabelli) who has done a number of cars to include a 71 GTX on a newer Challenger, his own 69 Daytona on a newer Charger chassis, and a 70 Daytona on a Hellcat chassis and they look fantastic. You don't have to like it buy the results speak for themselves.
 
I found the video, thanks everyone. I’m going to stick with the solid axle. According to that guy in the video, the track width is wider than a stock b body and if anything I want a few inches narrower. He also had to notch out a good chunk of frame. Seems like just too much of a headache for me to want to figure out.

Good call. I don’t think the benefits are worth the work and expense. It seemed like a good idea at the time. That’s why I just went with a Dana 60 on my redeye swap ‘Cuda.
