you are right ,it is a disease .I pumped gas in 426 cross rams, hemis ,you name it. chevys ,ford, whatever, from 1962 until 1969. The funniest thing I saw was, whoever lost on a particular Saturday went and bought whatever car beat them the previous Saturday! Kids were nuts ,and their parents bought them these cars. I was stuck with a Desoto,no money. I'll try not to bore people with a story, but I fell in love with a 68' charger on 22 oct, 1967. 9:00 at night, I was reading the pumps for the day. I hear a screaming car come down the street,
he fly's in to the station. new 68' charger copper, white top. hemi with Intranist stickers from Michigan. He throws me 10 bucks, and wants it filled, now. That's a lot of money then. I said, I'm reading the pump! he said, I was in Michigan that morning, and I have to be in Denver by the next morning.(I'm in Omaha) I thought he was kidding!
I filled the car, drooled the whole time. He blew out of there, not one minute later I heard sirens, the police cars from the Iowa Highway patrol, Nebraska, and Omaha police flying down the street after him. No news anywhere, they apparently never caught him. I couldn't sleep for a week. True story!
