Help! Is A-833 stamp legit?

Do you think this vin stamp is legitimate? It’s obviously been ground. Do you think the factory would ever do this? The ID stamp looks real and seems correct for 71 model year.

Yeah, it almost seems too obvious to be fake….

Does something stand out as incorrect besides the grinding? The font looks ok to me, except for the number 1 looks suspect. There’s also what looks to be a star at the end of the vin. Could that be a designation for a factory alteration?

Probably a mis stamp and restamp at the factory.
